The Citadel
We are located on the top of the Citadel, that is, in the attic between the two largest towers of the Middle Castle and the whole Bojnice castle – the Staircase Tower and the Donjon. Within the Neo-Gothic rebuilding of John Pálffy, the Middle Castle was the first to be completed as early as the end of the 19th century. The attic of the Citadel was then also surrounded by a walkway. However, the space in the middle was divided into small chambers (the so-called cloisters) for the servants. However, after the fire of the roofs of the Middle Castle in 1950, they disappeared. In their place today is an exhibition of 19th century art. Artistic and industrial production is represented by furniture, clocks, glass, porcelain, stoneware, paintings and sculptures. They represent the Classical, Empire, Biedermeier, Romantic and Second Rococo periods of the first half of the 19th century, as well as neo-styles from the second half of the 19th century, which are inspired by the earlier styles of the Gothic and Renaissance periods.
