The French Park

Every splendid noble building in the past included a garden or a park. The greenery refreshes, beautifies and makes the space cosy. Bojnice castle, as a former medieval fortress, stands on a rock where greenery does not thrive. That is why count John Pálffy wanted to create a green space in the castle during the last rebuilding. The otherwise unused space on the eastern side of the forecourt served him well. The ivy winding up the wall was planted by the author of the Romantic appearance of the castle, count Pálffy. The imposing boxwoods and yews were planted after the count's death in 1910. Thanks to the planted plants, the French Park is green all year round. The bastion with a seating area was originally used for defensive purposes.
